WHALE & DOLPHIN WATCHING

A special attraction in the Union Hall area is the opportunity to see whales, dolphins, seals and all manner of Atlantic marine wildlife. Throughout the year, the catamaran Holly Jo operates from Reen Pier (very close to Union Hall) on trips focused on viewing the marine wildlife around the beautiful, wild and rocky West Cork coastline. Skipped by ex-fisherman, Colin Barnes, the Holly Jo does 2-hour coastal trips or 4-hour coastal and offshore trips with whale and dolphin watching as the main feature. Colin’s wealth of knowledge and understanding of local marine ecology, gained from 40 year’s experience on these waters, offer an unforgettable experience, suitable for all age groups. Costs are for a 2-hour trip, €15 for children up to 17 years, €20 for pensioners and students and €30 for adults. A 4-hour trips costs €30 for children up to 17 years, €40 for pensioners and students and €50 for adults.
